ADHD & Neurodivergent Friendly GP Care

At Family Medical Practices, we aim to provide a safe, respectful and supportive space for all patients, including our neurodivergent patients.
Neurodiversity refers to the natural variation in how people think, learn and experience the world. This includes conditions such as ADHD, autism, dyslexia and other differences in attention, communication and sensory processing.
We recognise that healthcare environments don't always feel easy to navigate for neurodivergent individuals. Our goal is to provide care that is flexible, understanding and tailored to you, whether that means clear communication, longer appointments, or working with you to find practical strategies that support your day-to-day life.
How we can support you
We encourage you to let us know what would make your visit more comfortable. This might include:
• Requesting a quiet space if the waiting room feels overwhelming
• Waiting outside or in a quieter area (such as the garden) until your appointment
• Booking a longer appointment so you don't feel rushed
• Clear, direct communication and time to process information
• Bringing a support person if helpful
Our team is happy to work with you to make your healthcare experience as accessible and comfortable as possible.
ADHD care at FMP
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that can affect attention, focus, organisation, emotional regulation and energy levels. It can look different in children and adults, and is often under-recognised, particularly in women.
At FMP, we support patients across all stages of their ADHD journey.
For patients with ADHD, many of our GPs, including Dr Timms, Dr Nguyen, Dr Urch, Dr O'Neil, Dr Cameron and Dr Hoffman, provide continuation prescribing and ongoing GP care where appropriate as part of a shared, team-based approach. These doctors have an ADHD continuation appointment listed on their book now page, and you can select this appointment type to book with them. This is for patients who already have an established ADHD diagnosis and treatment plan (including medication management). These GPs can discuss whether continuation prescribing and ongoing management at FMP is suitable for you.
Further information about the NSW ADHD reform pathway is available through the ACI website.
Booking with us
If you would like support with neurodivergent-friendly GP care, or would like to discuss ADHD continuation prescribing, please book with your usual GP or one of the doctors listed above.
