
Dr Margarethe Sears, ‘Dr Greta’ has been calling the Shire home for over a decade. Originally from Austria, Dr Greta completed her medical training at The University of Vienna in 2011. After relocating to Australia, she has spent time in both busy metropolitan and rural hospital and GP settings in QLD and NSW. Dr Greta enjoys the variety of General Practice with a special focus on: Womens Health, Antenatal care, Paediatric and adolescent health, contraception, and fertility.
She has worked in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in various hospitals in Sydney including The Sutherland Hospital and St. George Hospital as well as Liverpool Hospital.
Dr Greta holds the Diploma of Women’s Health through the Royal Australian College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and offers Antenatal Shared Care with The Sutherland Hospital. Dr Greta is a dedicated General Practitioner with a special focus on women’s health. She provides comprehensive care for hormonal health concerns, including PMS, PMDD, perimenopause, and menopause. She also supports patients experiencing pelvic pain and period-related concerns such as heavy, irregular, or painful periods, offering compassionate and evidence-based care.
Dr Greta enjoys the complexity and wide range of presentations that comes with General Practice as a specialty. From antenatal care to paediatrics, and later adolescent health challenges, the continuity of care is something she finds rewarding. She looks forward to knowing all her patients well, and finds listening to the stories of her patients a unique privilege.
Outside of work, Greta enjoys Pilates and spending time outdoors with her family.
